#2 espresso machine

I am sure all of you readers are very familiar with this method of brewing coffee. Since the 'revolution' of the coffee shop or cafe culture, espresso has been widely used and seen in many places. Espresso machine had turned into a 'trend', a type of lifestyle, that has overtaken or replaced the other forms of coffee machines or brewers. These machines, can now be spotted almost everywhere, from cafes to restaurants, bars, fast food outlets, to offices and even homes. To sum up, these machines ca almost be seen everywhere, and with the improve in technology over the years, espresso machines have also been improved to increase efficiency and made the preparing process more convenient and hassle-free. Let us now look at how the machines have been developed over the years:

This is the first espresso machine according to google image search. As we can see, the machine is big and bulky, considering it can only dispense 2 shots of espresso at any one time. Also, it do not look very elegant and like what we like to say, 'high-class', and everything have to be done manually.

Behold, this is the lever espresso machine that is designed to replace the previous one. It functions by dispensing hot water using the pressure the user applies to the lever, and allowing the hot water to seep through the coffee powder in the portafilter, thus, producing the end product, two shots of thick and strong espresso coffee. Also, not to forget, the addition of a steam wand to enable the steaming of milk and the making of foam.

The improved lever espresso machine

After the lever machine, this semi automatic machine is designed, removing the need for the user to manually dispense the water from a lever. Now, with a click of a button, water will be automatically dispensed. This is the machine most of us see today.
As we all can see, Espresso machines we see now are so much different from the way it used to be. But the question is, can this new machines with automatic functions, replaceable with the ones we have in the past? Would the quality of the coffee produced, still be the same?... ...
